About This Retreat
Imagine a little world. Bring it to life with your hands.
Four days to observe, imagine, and create a miniature landscape or diorama of your own. Draw inspiration from Himalayan homes, village pathways, forests, or a place that exists entirely in your imagination. Together, we move from sketches and base preparation to shaping clay and adding the little details that give a scene its character.

Retreat Program
Day 1 - Arrive, Imagine & Begin
12:00 PM | Arrival & Welcome
Settle in with a welcome drink and a guided walk around Paarli Dhara. Notice its curves, textures, handmade details, and relationship with the surrounding landscape.
1:00–2:30 PM | Lunch & Conversations
Gather for a warm, home-style meal and get to know one another. Share your interests, expectations, and the places or memories you might like to recreate.
2:30–4:00 PM | Time to Settle
Rest, explore, or find a quiet corner to gather your thoughts.
4:00–5:30 PM | High Tea & Creative Beginnings
Over tea, we visualise our little worlds and sketch the possibilities. Explore composition, scale, and how different elements fit together.
Get acquainted with the materials, prepare base cutouts, and begin shaping a small clay element—a doorway, wall, rock, or another feature from your imagined scene.
5:30–7:30 PM | Evening by the Fire
Relax with warmth, music, and stories. Exchange ideas or simply enjoy the mountain evening.
7:30–9:00 PM | Dinner & Unhurried Company
Share a thoughtfully prepared dinner and let conversations unfold.
Day 2 - Observe, Build & Shape
7:00–8:00 AM | A Slow Morning
Begin with gentle movement, journaling, birdwatching, or quiet sketching.
8:00–10:00 AM | Guided Village Walk
Explore village pathways and Himalayan homes. Observe rooflines, balconies, steps, stonework, vegetation, and the small details that make a place distinctive. Sketch or photograph features you would like to interpret in miniature.
10:00 AM–1:30 PM | Breakfast & Workshop Time
Enjoy breakfast, then return to your creation. Prepare and assemble your base, establish the terrain or backdrop, and begin building the main forms.
With guidance, explore ways to shape clay, join elements, and create textures while keeping the scale of your scene consistent.
1:30 PM | Lunch & a Pause
Gather for lunch, followed by time to rest.
3:30–5:30 PM | Guided Making & Detail
Continue developing your landscape or diorama. Shape architectural features, pathways, rocks, or other elements suited to your design. Experiment, make adjustments, and allow your scene to evolve.
5:30–8:00 PM | Time at Your Own Pace
Continue sketching or making, exchange discoveries, or unwind while your work rests.
8:00–9:00 PM | Himachali Dinner & Folk Evening
Come together for a traditional Himachali meal, music, stories, and reflections on the day.
Day 3 - Immerse & Bring Your World to Life
7:00–8:00 AM | A Slow Start
Take time for movement, stillness, and observation.
8:00–10:00 AM | Breakfast & Conversations
Enjoy an unhurried breakfast and consider what your miniature needs next.
10:00 AM–1:00 PM | Artists of the Wilderness
Spend time outdoors observing textures, branching patterns, contours, and changing light. Sketch details and explore how to translate them into miniature forms.
Continue shaping smaller elements where practical, keeping delicate pieces supported and protected.
1:00–3:00 PM | Picnic & Open-Air Exploration
Share lunch outdoors and continue gathering inspiration. Explore the finishing touches that could give your scene its atmosphere and story.
3:00–7:30 PM | Assembly & Finishing
Return to the workshop to bring your elements together. Refine textures, arrange details, and explore colour and finishing where drying allows. There is room for individual guidance, quiet concentration, and rest.
7:30 PM Onwards | Evening Gathering
Share your work in progress and the story behind it. Appreciate the different worlds taking shape, along with the challenges, discoveries, and unexpected turns in the process.
Day 4 - Gratitude, Reflection & Farewell
10:00 AM | A Final Breakfast, Display & Checkout
Gather for one last slow breakfast and a display of our miniature worlds, including pieces still in progress.
Share what inspired you, what you learned, and what you would like to explore next. Before departure, discuss any remaining drying, assembly, finishing, and packing needs so you can care for your creation at home.
Optional Experiences | Continue Exploring
