Day 2 - Immerse & Create
7:00–8:00 AM | A Slow Morning
Begin gently with yoga, journaling, birdwatching, forest sound bathing, or quiet sketching. Choose what feels right for you and take time to notice your surroundings.
8:00–10:00 AM | Guided Village Walk
Explore village pathways, Himalayan homes, and the rhythms of everyday life. Observe animals, textures, forms, and little details that might find their way into your creations.
10:00 AM–1:30 PM | Immersion in the Making
Return to your papier-mâché work and develop the ideas begun on Day 1. We build up forms, explore techniques, make adjustments, and experiment with texture and detail. There is space to ask questions, learn from one another, and become absorbed in the process.
1:30 PM | Lunch & a Pause
Gather for lunch, then take time to rest and step back from your work. Sometimes a quiet pause helps us see our creations afresh.
3:30–5:30 PM | Art, Observation & Creative Exploration
Spend time by flowing water for guided observation, sketching, and artistic exploration. Let the shapes, movement, and textures around you inspire the next stages of your work. Papier-mâché application continues in the workshop space, where our pieces can remain undisturbed.
5:30–8:00 PM | Time at Your Own Pace
Continue creating if you feel drawn to it, enjoy quiet conversation, or simply unwind outdoors. Allow the day’s discoveries to settle.
8:00–9:00 PM | Himachali Dinner & Folk Evening
Come together for a traditional Himachali meal, followed by music, stories, and shared reflections beneath the mountain sky.
Day 3 - Immerse & Create
Today, we take our creative exploration outdoors, drawing inspiration from the mountains, breeze, textures, and changing light. We continue developing our ideas, allowing time for both focused making and quiet observation.
7:00–8:00 AM | A Slow Start
Begin gently with movement, stillness, and observation. Stretch, breathe, or sit quietly, giving yourself time to notice the morning around you.
8:00–10:00 AM | Breakfast & Unhurried Conversations
Enjoy breakfast at your own pace and reflect on how your creation is evolving. Gather your ideas and prepare for our outdoor session.
10:00 AM–1:00 PM | Artists of the Wilderness
Immerse yourself in landscape-led art-making. Observe the curves of branches, patterns in rocks, movement of leaves, and shifting shadows.
Through sketching, shaping, and exploring details, we let these observations inform our papier-mâché creations. With guidance close at hand, each participant has room to follow their own imagination.
1:00–3:00 PM | Picnic & Open-Air Creation
Share a picnic lunch, then continue creating in the company of nature. Experiment, refine your ideas, or pause to look at your work afresh. We work outdoors where practical, keeping wet pieces supported and protected as they dry.
3:00–7:30 PM | Time to Continue or Rest
Return to the workshop to develop your piece, explore finishing details as drying allows, or take an unhurried break.
7:30 PM Onwards | Evening Gathering
Come together to share our work in progress, stories, observations, and experiences. Let’s appreciate the discoveries, unexpected turns, and individual expressions that have emerged through our time together.
Day 4 - Gratitude and reflection
We close our time together by appreciating what we have made and what the process has offered us.
10:00 AM | A Final Breakfast, Sharing & Checkout
Gather for one last slow breakfast and a display of our creations, including pieces still in progress. We share our experiences, acknowledge the challenges and discoveries, and reflect on how our ideas have evolved.
A moment of gratitude—for the material, the space, the company, and the time we gave ourselves to create—brings the retreat to a gentle close. Before departure, we discuss any drying, finishing, and transport needs for our pieces.
Optional Experiences | Continue Exploring
If you wish to extend your creative time, enquire about additional sessions in mud sculpting, miniature landscapes, pyrography, terrarium making, or polymer clay jewellery. You can also explore Bir through paragliding or café hopping. These experiences are arranged separately, subject to availability.
You don’t need to be an artist to join us. Bring your curiosity, your ideas, and a willingness to get your hands messy.
Come for the calm. Come for the views. Come for the art—and enjoy the pleasure of making something of your own.
